Pediatric MRI
Safe and effective diagnostic procedure for internal organs, joints and brain without X-rays.
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is a modern diagnostic procedure that provides accurate images of internal organs, tissues and structures without the use of X-rays.
MRI helps diagnose brain and spinal cord diseases, joints, spine, pelvic organs and abdominal cavity. This diagnostic tool is vital in cases of suspected congenital abnormalities, tumors, inflammation, trauma, or developmental abnormalities.
Benefits
Fast data processing
Results are available in a short time, which is critical in acute conditions.
Comfortable setting
Quiet machine, parents’ presence, gentle approach.
High diagnostic accuracy
Helps detect hidden pathologies and confirm the diagnosis in complex cases.
Radiation-free
The procedure involves no X-rays, so it's safe for even the youngest patients.
Preparation
MRI without contrast requires no special preparation. Remove all metal objects before the procedure. MRI with contrast requires no eating 4-6 hours prior to the procedure.
Procedure
The child is placed on the moving table, which slides inside the MRI machine's tunnel. It is essential to remain motionless during the scan. The examination is painless, although there are tapping sounds, so we provide earplugs or headphones. The procedure usually takes between 20 and 45 minutes, depending on the area being examined. When contrast is used, it is injected into a vein before or during the scan.
Results
MRI can detect the smallest structural changes and identify the cause of symptoms. The study helps diagnose neoplasms, developmental abnormalities, inflammation, trauma and other conditions.
