Pediatric densitometry
A painless examination that helps assess bone density and identify the risks of skeletal growth and development disorders in children.
Densitometry assesses bone mineral density and spot problems in bone development early on. These studies are especially important during childhood, when the bony skeleton is growing. Deviations can be caused by calcium deficiency, hormonal imbalances, or chronic diseases.
This procedure is indicated for children with growth issues, posture problems, frequent fractures, and suspected osteopenia or osteoporosis. The process is simple and safe.
Benefits
Personal approach
We assess bone density as well as the risk of associated conditions in the child.
Early diagnostics
Allows for early detection of bone formation disorders.
Quick and comfortable
The procedure takes no more than 20 minutes and requires no special preparation.
Safe for children
Advanced equipment with minimal radiation exposure.
Preparation
No special preparation is required. You may be asked to temporarily stop calcium supplements or vitamins 1-2 days before the examination.
Procedure
The child is placed on a special table and a sensor is located over the examined area (usually the spine, pelvis or forearm). The procedure is quick and comfortable. It takes about 10-20 minutes, during which time it is important to remain still to ensure accurate results.
Results
We get test results immediately after the procedure. Based on these results, we assess the risk of mineral deficiencies and future osteoporosis development. You will receive the conclusion on the day of the examination.
