Hydrocele surgery
Surgical intervention aimed at eliminating the pathological accumulation of fluid in the testicular membranes.

Testicular hydrocele is an accumulation of serous fluid in the testicular membranes. It affects men of all ages, causing an increase in the size of the scrotum, which makes it difficult to lead an active life, including sexual activity.
In most cases, hydrocele does not cause pain or compromise health, but significant enlargement of the scrotum can lead to discomfort and impaired movement. Surgical treatment of hydrocele is indicated in case of significant scrotal enlargement, pain or other complications. Surgery is aimed at removing accumulated fluid and restoring normal testicular anatomy.
Consultation with a urologist to confirm the diagnosis. Ultrasound of the scrotum to assess fluid quantity and testicular health. Common blood and urine tests, and a coagulogram.
The procedure is performed under general or spinal anaesthesia. The surgeon makes a small incision in the scrotum above the fluid accumulation. Through the incision, the surgeon exposes the testicular membranes and removes the accumulated serous fluid. To prevent the fluid from accumulating again, either a partial or complete resection (excision) of the testicular membranes may be performed if necessary. After the fluid is removed, the wound is closed with cosmetic sutures. A rubber drain is placed at the lower edge of the scrotum to prevent the accumulation of blood in the scrotal cavity the first 24 hours after surgery.
After surgery, it is recommended to rest and avoid physical activity for several weeks. The patient should wear supportive undergarments to reduce the load on the scrotum. It is important to follow the physician's recommendations for post-operative wound care and comply with all prescribed appointments to prevent complications.
