Adhesion, also known as labial fusion, most often occurs in prepubescent girls. It is usually caused by allergic reactions, poor hygiene, or inflammatory diseases of the external genital organs.

It is a brief outpatient procedure that takes only a few minutes. First, the perineal area is treated with an antiseptic solution. Then, an anesthetic gel or cream is applied to the area of fusion. After 5-15 minutes, the surgeon carefully cuts the adhesion using a specialized probe and scalpel to avoid damaging the surrounding healthy tissue.
Once the procedure is finished, the child can go home. The mother will receive recommendations for perineal care and treatment.
