Gastroscopy is a research method in which a doctor examines in detail the mucous membrane of the esophagus, stomach and duodenum using special endoscopic equipment.

Before gastroscopy, non-carbonated non-alcoholic unpainted transparent liquids are allowed (water, weak sweet tea, juice without pulp and apple-type seeds), however, it is necessary to stop taking them strictly no later than 4 hours before the study.
Gastroscopy is performed under conditions of drug-induced sleep and takes an average of 10-15 minutes. The patient is positioned in a comfortable position on his left side. A thin endoscope with a miniature video camera is carefully sequentially passed through the mouth into the esophagus, stomach and duodenum. The specialist examines the mucous membrane in detail, performs photofixation, and, if necessary, takes a biopsy for histological examination.
