Anterior and posterior nasal cavity tamponade
Procedures to stop incessant nosebleeds. Anterior tamponade is used for bleeding from the front of the nose, and posterior tamponade is used for bleeding from the back of the nasal cavity.

Nosebleeds (epistaxis) can be caused by a variety of causes, including injuries, infectious diseases, hypertension and other conditions.
Benefits
Quick action
Tamponade allows you to quickly stop bleeding.
High efficiency
The procedure is effective even in cases of severe and chronic epistaxis.
Minimal risks
When performed by a qualified specialist, the risk of complications is minimal.
The possibility of outpatient treatment
In most cases, the procedure can be performed on an outpatient basis, without the need for hospitalization.

Preparation
Before performing a tamponade, the doctor conducts an examination to determine the source of bleeding. In some cases, additional diagnostics may be required, for example, an endoscopic examination of the nose.

Anterior and posterior nasal cavity tamponade procedure
If most of the blood flows out through the nostrils, an anterior tamponade is used. Special tampons soaked in medicines are inserted into the nasal passages, which stop bleeding. If the source of the bleeding is in the back of the nasal cavity, a posterior tamponade is used. This is a more complex procedure in which special tampons are inserted into the nasopharynx and nasal cavity through the mouth. Modern tampons allow you to stop most bleeding, so a back tamponade is required only in difficult cases.

Recommendations after anterior and posterior nasal cavity tamponade
After tamponade, the patient is advised to avoid active physical activity, increased blood pressure and nasal injuries. Personal hygiene must be observed and, if necessary, the use of medications prescribed by a doctor.

Adenoids
Adenoids are an accumulation of lymphoepithelial tissue located in the dome of the nasopharynx (nasopharyngeal tonsil). Adenoids are part of the lymphoepithelial ring, consisting of six tonsils, which plays a key role in protecting the body from infections.
Chronic sinusitis
Inflammation of the mucous membrane of the paranasal sinuses, which lasts more than 12 weeks. The condition causes prolonged nasal congestion, which may be accompanied by nasal discharge or pass without it. Headaches and a feeling of pressure in the affected sinus area are also possible.
Volumetric formations of the nasopharynx
Pathological changes in nasopharyngeal tissues, including benign nasopharyngeal tumors such as polyps, cysts, adenomas and angiofibromas, can significantly affect breathing, hearing and sense of smell. Malignant tumors of the nasopharynx also pose a serious threat to health.
Thornwald's Bag
This is a benign congenital cyst-like formation that is located on the back wall of the nasopharynx.
Curvature of the nasal septum
This is a deviation of the nasal septum from the midline, which can cause difficulty in nasal breathing and contribute to the development of chronic diseases of the nose and paranasal sinuses.
Nasal and paranasal sinus polyps
These are benign neoplasms that arise from the mucous membrane of the nasal cavity or sinuses as a result of various pathogenic effects on it.
Expected effect
Stopping the bleeding
Immediate cessation of nosebleeds.
Stabilization of the patient's condition
Reducing the risk of anemia and other complications associated with heavy blood loss.
Restoring breathing through the nose
After stopping the bleeding and removing the tamponade, nasal breathing is restored.
Prevention of recurrent bleeding
Tamponade promotes healing of damaged vessels, reducing the risk of repeated epistaxis.
