Meniscus of the knee joint are important structures, the main function of which is depreciation. They reduce the load on the cartilage by increasing the area of contact between the condyles of the femur and tibia. The rupture of meniscus is the most common orthopedic pathology, which occurs with forced extension in the knee joint, twisting movements.Experienced specialists Olympus Clinic conduct expert diagnostics and minimally invasive operations on the knee joint of any degree of complexity using modern technologies. If a small amount of time has passed since the injury and certain types of meniscus ruptures are observed, then arthroscopic stitching is performed. With the help of special tools under a high increase, the traumatologist-surgeon is stitching the damaged part of the meniscus. The preservation of meniscus allows you to slow down the progression of arthrosis and restore the joint function.Arthroscopic surgery to Olympus clinics can significantly reduce the time of surgical intervention, eliminate the cause of the pathology, reduce the risk of tissue damage and accelerate the patient rehabilitation process.

01

Consultation and diagnostics

During the initial consultation, an orthopedic traumatologist conducts a clinical examination of the patient and special tests, evaluates the volume of movements. Complex examinations are prescribed, which include instrumental diagnostics (radiography, MRI). Indications for surgery on the knee joint are determined only by a doctor after an objective diagnosis with visualization of structures of the anatomical region. If necessary, surgical intervention begins to prepare for a planned operation. The patient is directed to a comprehensive preoperative examination, laboratory diagnostics. A few days before the planned date of the operation based on the results of the examination, the patient meets an anesthesiologist for the individual selection of anesthesia.

02

Arthroscopic operation

Hospitalization takes place in the morning on the day of the operation. The last intake of water, solid food should be at least 6 hours before planned surgery. As a rule, laryrgeal mask anesthesia is used to perform the operation on the meniscus. Arthroscopy of the knee joint in Olympus clinics is carried out in a modern operating room, which is equipped according to world standards with laminar air flow. The work uses high -tech equipment, which allows you to carry out minimally invasive interventions on various joints without using large incisions of soft tissues. High -quality optics gives a clear enlarged picture of the operation site to ensure maximum accuracy of work. The operation lasts an average of 30 to 60 minutes. A camera with tools is introduced through the punctures in the joint, with which the condition of the internal structures of the joint is evaluated, the damaged cartilage (shaving, ablation) and the sewing of the damaged part of the meniscus are carried out. After surgery, the patient is transferred to the wake -up ward, where medical personnel are watching his condition. Arthroscopic techniques significantly reduce the time of inpatient stay. The patient is discharged the next day after the operation.

03

Postoperative period

After the operation, the patient receives his appointments and recommendations of the attending physician, a rehabilitologist. The seams are removed after 2 weeks, until that moment it is necessary to be careful during hygiene procedures and not to wet the knee joint. Recovery after planned arthroscopic stitching of meniscus is 5-6 weeks. The first 3 weeks, the knee joint is fixed in a special orthosis. Then, therapeutic gymnastics, physiotherapeutic procedures (magnetotherapy, UVT, kinesiotherapy, massage) with a gradual increase in the load on the joint are without fail.
