Soft facial tissue flap surgery
Surgery to restore facial shape and function using different types of skin flaps.
This procedure is used to treat skin and underlying tissue defects caused by injuries, tumors, congenital abnormalities, or surgery. It is designed to restore the appearance and function of damaged facial areas.
By using different types of flaps such as rotation flaps, rhombic, advancement, and others, we provide a personalized approach for each patient, taking into account the specific defect and the anatomical structure of the face.
Prior to surgery, the patient undergoes a comprehensive examination, which includes specialist consultations (surgeon, anesthesiologist), laboratory tests, and instrumental examinations. It is also essential to assess the condition of the skin and underlying tissues in the targeted area.
The surgeon will select the most suitable type of flap. The rotation flap rotates around its axis to close the defect. The rhombic flap is designed to move diagonally, allowing for the closure of irregularly shaped defects. The advancement is designed to shift in a single direction, making it suitable for addressing minor defects. Once the flap is shaped and relocated, it is secured in its new position to ensure optimal blood supply and minimal tissue tension. The wound is then sutured and a sterile dressing is applied.
We use advanced surgical instruments, microscopes, as well as anesthesia and patient monitoring equipment to perform the surgery.
After the procedure, the patient is advised to rest, avoid physical activity, and stay out of direct sunlight. There might be some swelling, bruising, and minor pain, which should go away in a few days. Complete recovery and final results can be seen in 4–6 weeks.
