Diagnosis and treatment of urticaria
Benefits
Rapid relief of symptoms
Modern medications can effectively eliminate itching and rashes.
An integrated approach
Treatment eliminates the symptoms and prevents their recurrence.
Effective prevention
ASIT reduces the risk of flare-ups and makes the immune system less sensitive to allergens.
Safety
Modern diagnostic and treatment methods minimize the risks of complications.
Diagnostics
During the appointment, the doctor will find out when the symptoms appeared, what could have caused them and how they changed over time, assess the nature and location of the rashes, the presence of edema and the general condition of the body. Laboratory tests include a blood test, determination of IgE levels, a biochemical blood test, and a blood test for allergens. Sometimes tests are used to clarify the presence of autoimmune or inflammatory diseases, diseases of internal organs. Skin tests for urticaria are usually not performed. Provocative tests and elimination methods can confirm the link between the allergen and the symptoms. Additional examinations such as ultrasound, gastroscopy, and parasite tests may be prescribed to rule out other causes of the rash.
Treatment
First of all, antihistamines should be prescribed to relieve symptoms. If the allergen is known or obviously suspected, then contact with the allergen should be eliminated. For example, with food allergies, foods that cause a reaction are excluded. In the chronic course of the disease, allergen-specific immunotherapy (ASIT) can be used, which helps to reduce sensitivity to the allergen.
Recovery
After the acute symptoms are eliminated, the patient is advised to continue taking antihistamines, avoid contact with potential allergens, and visit a doctor regularly to monitor the condition.
