Hemangioma diagnostics and treatment
Hemangiomas are benign vascular growths that can be congenital or infantile. In cases of suspected hemangioma, we recommend consulting a vascular surgeon for an accurate diagnosis.
Other benign growths are often mistakenly referred to as hemangiomas. In order to accurately diagnose a hemangioma, specialists use color Doppler ultrasonography to determine its size and the severity of blood flow within it.
Pharmacotherapy requires a specific approach, which includes monitoring ECG and glucose levels, as these may change during treatment. Treatment is prescribed on an outpatient basis without hospitalization.
Currently, the most common methods of treating hemangiomas are pharmacotherapy with low-dose beta-blockers, topical therapy with timolol drops, and laser treatment. This treatment has a minimal impact on the patient's body and is effective in achieving complete regression of the hemangioma.
The treatment of hemangiomas is usually a lengthy process, lasting from three to six months. By the end of treatment, the hemangioma will have disappeared completely.
