Preparation depends on the type of examination. Before gastroscopy, the child should not eat for at least 11-12 hours before the procedure so that the digestive tract is empty. Before a colonoscopy, the intestines must be cleansed with medication or an enema (as medically recommended based on the child's age), and a special low-residue diet must be followed. The procedure is performed under sedation to ensure the child's comfort and safety.
A biopsy is performed during an endoscopic examination.
