Fatty hepatosis
Chronic liver disease, in which excess fatty deposits accumulate in the cells of the organ.

The main mechanism of development of fatty hepatosis (steatohepatitis) is associated with impaired fat metabolism in the liver. Normally, hepatocytes break down and remove fats, but with an overabundance of lipids or a violation of their utilization, fat infiltration of cells occurs. In the future, this can provoke inflammation, fibrosis, and even cirrhosis of the liver.
Causes
Alcohol intake
Frequent consumption of fatty foods, fast food and semi-finished products
Sudden weight loss or fluctuation (bariatric surgery, celiac disease, starvation)
Excess carbohydrates in food
Sedentary lifestyle
Taking certain medications (Methotrexate, Tamoxifen)
Hereditary metabolic disorders
Diabetes mellitus, gout, atherosclerosis, hypertension
Thyroid disorders (hypothyroidism)
Hepatitis C and autoimmune diseases
Symptoms
As a rule, the disease is asymptomatic, but sometimes the patient may experience the following symptoms:
Feeling of heaviness and discomfort in the right hypochondrium
Increased fatigue and weakness
Symptoms of concomitant diseases (obesity and others)
After-effects
In the later stages of the disease, liver fibrosis develops, which can gradually turn into cirrhosis – the irreversible replacement of normal organ tissue with connective tissue. This reduces the functionality of the liver, increases the risk of cardiovascular and oncological diseases.
Лечение

Conservative treatment
The basis of fatty hepatosis therapy is lifestyle changes. It is important to reduce weight, adjust nutrition and increase physical activity. The diet should exclude saturated fats, simple carbohydrates, fast food and alcohol. Vegetables, fruits, protein products, fiber and unsaturated fatty acids (fish, olive oil) are useful. The doctor may also prescribe medications to restore the metabolism.

Surgical treatment
Surgical intervention in fatty hepatosis is rarely used.
