Deep vein thrombosis
Deep vein thrombosis is a pathological condition characterized by the formation of blood clots in large veins located under the deep fascia.
The veins of the lower extremities and pelvis are most often affected. Blockage of deep veins causes swelling, pain and decreased motor activity.
Causes
Slowing down blood flow
Damage to the walls of blood vessels
Increased blood clotting
Long period of no movement
Surgical interventions
Oncological diseases
Genetic predisposition
Taking hormonal drugs
Fatness
Pregnancy and postpartum period
Symptoms
Swelling of the affected limb
Pain and feeling of heaviness
Skin color change to white or bluish
An increase in skin temperature in the thrombus area
Strengthening of the subcutaneous venous pattern
Soreness during palpation along the veins
Limitation of mobility
After-effects
The most serious complication of deep vein thrombosis is the migration of an artery thrombus in the lungs, which can develop without timely treatment and lead to death. Postthrombotic syndrome may also develop, which is characterized by chronic venous insufficiency. It is manifested by swelling, pain, discoloration of the skin and, in severe cases, the formation of difficult-to-heal ulcers.
Лечение
Conservative treatment:
Deep vein thrombosis is treated by a phlebologist. The basis of treatment is anticoagulant therapy aimed at preventing the growth of a blood clot and facilitating its natural dissolution.
Surgical treatment:
In some cases, surgical intervention may be required. Methods include the administration of drugs that dissolve a blood clot, surgical removal of a blood clot, implantation of a special device into a vein to prevent the migration of blood clots into the pulmonary artery.
