Impeachment-shoulder joint syndrome
Impingement syndrome (subacromial syndrome) is a condition in which the tendons of the rotator cuff of the shoulder are pinched between the acromion and the head of the humerus, which causes pain and limited movement in the shoulder joint.
At the initial stages, patients experience discomfort only with physical exertion, but with the progression of the disease, the pain becomes constant, especially when moving the arm up or to the side.
Causes
Innate features of the acromion structure
Osteophytes in the acromioclavicular joint
Osteoarthritis of the shoulder joint
Post-traumatic bone changes
Chronic bursitis
Inflammation in the rotator cuff area
Instability of the shoulder joint
Symptoms:
Shoulder pain, which increases when moving the arm up or to the side
Limitation of shoulder mobility
Pain after exercise and during sleep
Crunching and clicking when moving
Swelling of the anterior part of the joint
Reduced muscle strength
After-effects
Impingement syndrome can lead to impaired mobility of the shoulder joint and constant pain. Constant tissue injury increases the risk of tendon rupture and the development of arthrosis in the joint. In the final stage of the disease, surgical intervention may be required to restore the mobility and functionality of the shoulder.
Лечение
Conservative treatment:
In the early stages of the disease, conservative treatment is used, including the appointment of drugs to relieve pain and inflammation, physiotherapy procedures, as well as physical therapy to strengthen the shoulder muscles. Physical activity restriction and rest play an important role in preventing further tendon injury. Rest helps to relieve inflammation and reduce the risk of disease progression.
Surgical treatment:
In the absence of improvements from conservative treatment or in the late stages of impingement syndrome, surgical intervention may be required. Subacromial decompression and acromioplasty are most often performed. These operations are aimed at expanding the subacromial space and eliminating factors contributing to tendon infringement. Operations are performed using arthroscopy, which minimizes the traumatic nature of the intervention.
