Cholecystitis
Inflammatory disease of the gallbladder, which can occur in an acute or chronic form.

The gallbladder is located in the right hypochondrium and performs the function of accumulating bile, which is necessary for the digestion of fats. Normally, upon ingestion, the bladder contracts and releases bile into the intestine. However, with inflammation, the walls of the organ thicken, its motility is disrupted, bile stagnates and stones can form. In the acute form, cholecystitis develops rapidly, causing severe symptoms and requiring emergency care. The chronic course is characterized by a less pronounced clinical picture, but leads to a gradual deterioration of bladder function. Most often, cholecystitis occurs due to cholelithiasis, infectious diseases (opisthorchiasis, hepatitis, intestinal infections). Cholecystitis also develops as a result of complications of serious diseases (sepsis, shock, trauma, burns), in which blood circulation is disrupted and immune protection decreases.
Causes
Cholelithiasis (the main cause in 90% of cases)
Impaired motility of the gallbladder (dyskinesia)
Infectious diseases (bacterial, viral, parasitic)
Diabetes mellitus, obesity
Chronic stress
Symptoms
Sudden, acute pain in the right hypochondrium radiating to the interscapular region and the right shoulder blade (acute cholecystitis)
Dull, aching pain in the right hypochondrium, worse after eating (chronic cholecystitis)
Nausea and vomiting with bile
Fever, chills
Bloating, stool disorders
Jaundice (with blockage of the bile duct)
After-effects
If left untreated, cholecystitis can lead to serious complications: acute pancreatitis, gallbladder gangrene, peritonitis, and others.
Лечение

Conservative treatment
Treatment of acute cholecystitis is carried out in a hospital, where the patient is prescribed antispasmodic therapy and antibiotics. The patient is under the supervision of medical staff, and therapy is adjusted if necessary.

Surgical treatment
If conservative therapy is ineffective, cholecystectomy is considered — removal of the gallbladder. Laparoscopic cholecystectomy is often performed, a minimally invasive technique in which instruments are inserted through small incisions and the organ is removed.
