Endometriosis
Endometriosis is a benign, chronic disease, the common forms of which can significantly worsen the quality of life of women, including their psychoemotional state. This is a pathological condition in which cells that are very similar to the endometrium in their type and function are located outside the uterine cavity.

Endometriosis can be genital, affecting the reproductive organs; extragenital, spreading and "germinating", affecting other organs, more often the intestines, urinary system, lungs, postoperative scars. Adenomyosis, a similar lesion of the uterine body itself, is considered a separate disease. Endometriosis occurs in at least 10% of the female population of all ages, including girls. And in patients with infertility - in more than 30% of cases. The malignancy of endometriosis and adenomyosis, according to some data, can reach 5-10%. Adenomyosis and endometriosis can be asymptomatic, but they are most often accompanied by chronic pelvic pain, bleeding, and infertility.
Causes
Retrograde menstruation (reverse flow of menstrual blood through the fallopian tubes into the abdominal cavity)
Epithelial metaplasia (transformation of normal tissue into endometrioid)
The spread of endometrioid cells through the blood or lymphatic pathways
Hereditary predisposition
Hormonal disorders
Symptoms
Chronic pain in the lower abdomen, which increases during menstruation
Painful and heavy menstruation (dysmenorrhea)
Pain during sexual intercourse (dyspareunia)
Pain during urination and bowel movements
Infertility
Spotting before and after menstruation
After-effects
The most common and significant complication is infertility, which is observed in 50% of women with this disease. Adhesions resulting from the inflammatory process can lead to obstruction of the fallopian tubes, impaired mobility and damage to ovarian tissue, which makes conception difficult.
Women with endometriosis can also develop adenomyosis, a condition in which endometrioid tissue grows into the muscle layer of the uterus, causing it to enlarge and deform. This leads to even more pronounced pain symptoms and heavy menstruation.
Лечение

Conservative treatment
It is aimed at relieving symptoms and slowing the progression of the disease. The main method is hormone therapy, which is prescribed by a doctor. Symptomatic therapy aimed at relieving pain also plays an important role in the treatment.

Surgical treatment
It is indicated in cases when conservative therapy is ineffective, as well as in the presence of complications. The main method is laparoscopic destruction of foci of endometriosis, in which they are removed or coagulated. This procedure allows you to eliminate adhesions, restore patency of the fallopian tubes and reduce the risk of recurrence of the disease. After surgery, the patient is prescribed continued hormone therapy to prevent the recurrence of endometriosis. Surgical treatment can also be the first line of therapy for patients dealing with infertility.
