Arterial hypertension
Arterial hypertension is a chronically occurring disease, the presence of which is indicated by a prolonged and persistent increase in blood pressure (BP).
An increase in blood pressure may be the only symptom of the disease and not manifest itself in any way. However, prolonged high blood pressure damages the walls of the arteries, which in turn significantly increases the risk of myocardial infarction, strokes and kidney failure.
Reasons:
Arterial hypertension can be primary and secondary.
Violation of blood pressure regulation. This is the most common form of hypertension.
Blood pressure may also increase as a result of other diseases, such as kidney disease, endocrine pathology. Such arterial hypertension is called secondary.
Symptoms:
Pathology is characterized by a certain cunning: it often proceeds asymptomatically.
But patients may complain of the following:
headache;
dizziness;
blurred vision, “flies” in front of the eyes;
visual impairment;
shortness of breath;
rapid fatigue;
pain behind the sternum;
nosebleeds;
swelling of the legs.

Conservative treatment:
Drug treatment is carried out taking into account all the causes of increased blood pressure. The doctor individually prescribes the necessary medicines with an explanation of the appropriate regimen and duration of medication.
Surgical treatment:
Surgical intervention is performed with secreting tumors of the endocrine system, which are characterized by therapeutic refractoriness of increased blood pressure. Surgical removal of pheochromocytoma, adenoma of the adrenal cortex, subtotal resection of the thyroid gland is indicated.
